  1. @Christof+ can you give me a short trial for the website please? Thanks Samico.
  2. @Kim my prayers go with you and your family. All the best Rodrigo Samico.
  3. Have you tested it already @cuegis?
  4. Please are this calendar using options expiring before or after the earnings? Can we change between the two styles? Its 1 week calendars? Thank you Samico.
  5. Seems like its not always a 1wk, depends on the stock. Also for the price movement, looks like a double calendar with strikes farther apart will hold it due to IV increase in the back expiration when vol shifts into it, if the stock does not move too much. They trade on unconfirmed dates too, which is dangerous as we know.
  6. To summarize, basically what the guys over there are doing is that they are operating pre pre earnings calendars too, and placing a 1wk double calendar a few strikes away from the current underlying price, using as the short leg options expiring 1 week prior to the earnings week an buying the ones expiring right after the earning date. Entry usually is around 30 days or more from short expiration. The strategy seems to be delivering good results to them so far. Samico.
  7. Does anyone here saw the double calendars marko of optionslam is doing lately? He calls them double eagle and explains Them here it has some similarity with Cuegis pre pre earnings cal. Samico
  8. I second that! The scanner to calendars would be really a big HIT! Can you do it @DJTUX ? []'s Samico.
  9. Congratulations to @Yowster for this deserved acknowlegment. Ive always had him as a most valued member of this community. And congratulations to @Kim for this happy decision. Very good indeed. Rodrigo.
  10. But then how to act in periods like 2018 year? Vix was high from may and beyond right? Buying straddles isnt a good thing?

Sorry, missed this profile update (they don't alert the same was as the personal messages).  Dustin was playing around with the idea of making his charting available via a subscription, I even beta tested something for him last summer.   But something happened where he was unable to go forward at that point in time, so you have to just use the charts he posts here.

Pre-earnings calendars are certainly one of the most profitable SO stratagies (and last years the hold-thru RICs had a huge negative impact - but Kim stopped these trades).  Problem is that there are only so many candidates that they work very well on.  Straddle trades are what they are and they would perform well in a black swan event - but I don know many (mostly longer-term) members skip a lot of them, and others don't roll.  VIX/VXX trades are also great performers (my weely VXX put trades made over 300% in 32 weekly trades in 2016).

    IB TWS setup

Ib mobile works fine for me. I trade solely by it. Just a matter of being used to. I SEcond what has been said about opttionnetexplorer. ITs great really. Just my two cents. []s Samico
  14. In One, the spread prices i ve noted that they are not in line with what ib or tos say, because it took each leg to compute the mid and the real mid is usually higher. Have anyone noted this? AM i wrong? Is there a way to correct it? I saw that the prices for the spreads shown are a little lower from that i observe in tos or interactive brokers. I think that it is because the system takes each leg price separately to build the price of the combo. This can be misleading as when doing backtests, i can think that i would have been filled at a price that, in reality, would never happen. Rodrigo
  15. Congratulations Kim. Keep it up please. Samico.
  16. I ve used trade monster in the past and their fills are horrible. I am almost sure they cross orders internally, something that tos and ib don't do (i believe). Rodrigo
  17. Congratulations for the excellent result Kim. IT is due to your hard work and study. Happy new year to you too, hope to keep learning from you for a good time and i m sure there are profitable months ahead of us . Rodrigo.
  18. Kim, REgarding volatility in calendars, i was seeing a presentation by optionslam, and the presenter suggested that when entering calendars, the long options expiration should be a farther month like 3 or 4 months ahead instead of next month, because the implied volatility in the long strike being that far from expiration, would suffer less impact than the next month options, which implied volatility is already high due to the event. What do you think about this? Also in another topic, knowing that IV decrease can hurt the straddle, is it fair to say that in a high iv situation it would be better to wait for it to come down in order to put the trades in the event of a vix spike? Rodrigo
  19. Kim, Regarding the price of the underlying. How much does it impacts the trade? Meaning, it seems to me that putting a straddle in an underlying that is priced at, lets say, $100, seems more effective than in one which trades at $30, because the higher priced one can move between strikes faster considering an enter 7 days before the earnings, which would do good to a straddle position as i would be taking credit as it moves. So if i get a picture of an underlying that has consistently moving 4% (which in a bigger priced stock means moving at least 2 strikes) 7 days before earnings during last 4 cycles, seems to me that this would be a favorite for a straddle? And the opposite is valid for a calendar? Or volatility "means everything" composing the options price and i shouldn´t bother about this? Please give me your thoughts if you can. Thanks Rodrigo.
  20. Great example of the influence of vega in the trade Kim. And how it impact straddles/Strangles? Thanks Rodrigo
  21. I have the exact same problem. Its hard to close spreads in there aparently . Rodrigo
  22. Happy Birthday Kim! All the best! Rodrigo
