  1. Luckily I saw a webinar where @Ophir Gottlieb said financial media is a self serving industry. The guy could be wright or wrong. All i know is I believed every article like this one on zero hedge as we crawled out of the last decline in 08-09 and didn't participate in the recovery as much I would have had I just ignored it and stuck my long term investment plan. Listening to local radio stations, there is such a sense of community and supporting the small businesses that are impacted the largest. The message isn't doom and gloom, but lets get through this together. Today I ran to a home improvement store that is now mandating masks. I felt a bit silly doing it, but I had work to get done and lived through it. If commerce can continue with a few extra safety measures I think people will go along with it to come out of this sooner. If the airline industry slows down, is it safe to say oh well? We are proving right now how much can get done meeting "virtually". Can the same be said for amusement parks and cruise lines, sports entertainment & concerts? I personally rarely patronize either, if they go away I can only assume another business will come out as the successor.
  2. I'm wondering if economic issues are going to be more Regional. New York is where all the major media Outlets are so everyday those are the headlines, no one cares about the Midwest where I am. It's funny, I'm in the construction trades 10 years ago everyone I knew was out of work or short on hours. I had to hire someone to keep up I'm so busy right now. Granted these are contracts that were signed 6 to 12 months ago. I personally don't know anyone out of work other than the lady that cuts my hair.
  3. The county I live in has 2 deaths from the virus out of 48 confirmed cases (937 tests approx 115k residents), both at a nursing home. I was told last week from a medical professional that both patients were in hospice care, so time was short anyhow, but they got labeled a corona death. He also mentioned a woman denied care for an ailment not related to corona that and eventually died from her symptoms. Because the hospital wouldn't take her due to corona restrictions, she was labeled a corona death. My routine skin cancer screening was cancelled, the bloodwork we have done for our health insurance was cancelled. What if I have melanoma or a co worker of my wife is 3 weeks from a heart attack that could have been prevented? I fully respect the fear of maxing out hospitals, but until that starts happening, we should continue fighting the health care battles we know we can win. On a side note, it's great seeing my 4 kids being forced to be siblings again as opposed to being with friends or at activities every night. I don't think I've wiped a runny nose on our 18 month old either since mid march when the stay at home order started and schools/day care stopped.
  4. I've been playing with the tradier web via mobile and robinhood app. Robinhood is no interactive brokers (my favorite trading app) when it comes to function, but order entry is faster than tradier and you get instant alerts on fills, canceled orders etc
  5. When did flicking your thumb or scrolling a mouse become cumbersome? I rarely notice the extra content as I need to click on the "go to this post" button in the email. The few times I've seen the extra content below its proven to be a good read. FWIW, I view these emails in the gmail app, others may see things differently
  6. I opened a small account at both tradier and robinhood so I can compare to IB. Tradier is not yet funded, but robinhood allowed me 1000 in useable funds once small ach deposits were verified. This allowed me to take yesterday's csco trade. I was filled at the official price on robinhood for the long straddle $2.51. I was also at IB, but was about 50 mins later and it was in blocks (50k acct). Because of a movement in that 50 mins in the underlying I did get a $0.02 better credit on the short strangle though at IB. Robinhood does not send out daily statements showing what clearing fees I paid but the commission should be zero. My commissions to do same size at IB breaking down my daily statement appear to be $6.61
  7. out +40%. No doubt aapl post earnings performance probably helped.
  8. If trades are placed directly thru tradier website as they don't have a mobile platform, will I still qualify?
  9. I've emailed Tradier several times about a mobile app, and they always say there is no mobile app, but there web version is mobile friendly. Yesterday I noticed the app you mentioned, but after emailing them, it is currently only available on apple devices, android coming soon... my email from jellifn: If you have an iPhone, iPad or iPod device, then Yes you will be able to use our app. You can read more about it here: https://www.jellifin.com/start-trading Very soon we will be rolling out our app for Android and Web trading. Thanks, Andre
  10. Took the GOOGL trade they sent out earlier in the week. Almost hit -40%, but didn't. Back to even now. Any one else take?
  11. I really like ib's mobile platform. In fact I dont know last time I actually loaded TWS up on my laptop. Very quick and easy to put spreads together. I haven't checked out tastyworks yet, but their product selection does not compare to ib at this time. As far as commission cost I really don't know for sure I don't pay too much attention to it I just know they are very competitive but in the Forum Kim mentioned are a few other options that would save you money in this regard

    Tax Talk

Am I correct that selling losing stock and buying an in the money call option will be considered a wash sale? Basically this has been a great year for short-term trade closed out using So strategies but my long-term Holdings mostly in spy have my acct at even on the year but 12k in realized gains I'll have to pay taxes on. Unless I can do the trader status which may work based on some research as I do own a business? Can i get the same delta of 250 spy using /es and some options?
  13. If all the proper paperwork was taken care of at account opening, I don't know how the clients can sue him. Ive had managed futures accounts blow up and I never thought of suing anyone. If the steady options fund goes bust can people sue? If the stock market tanks worse than '08 can mutual fund companies be sued? I would think risk disclosures are signed for a reason. At least it was "accredited" investors who should know what they are getting into, not an average Joe who just lost their life savings based on a sales pitch or having everything tied up in one firm or strategy. That being said, I read that he was getting $69 commissions, what kind of accredited investor cant figure out how to sell an option on there own? For further reading to those interested, there is a very long thread over at futures.io (formerly big mike trading) dedicated to this trading methodology. It is quite long, but discussions regarding the blow up start here: https://futures.io/options-futures/12309-selling-options-futures-691.html#post697676 I think you will need to register to read
  14. Look up amaranth advisors. Also a victim of nat gas.
  15. I did the second one u linked. Maybe I should start reading those emails they send out..... Thanks for the feedback and please note losers as well
  16. Got out on the second leg around +40%. Aug 10 1247.50 calls
  17. This Thread seems to have died off. Still haven't decided to subscribe but I took the Google momentum trade they emailed out the other day. closed part for a small winner holding one more to see if I get the 40% Target they mentioned. anyone else take the same trade?
  18. @Ophir Gottlieb I so very badly want to become a subscriber, but I once blew up an account after (not knowing at the time) curve fitting a strategy on tradestation. Do you offer any tutorials or videos to help prevent this when using your program? Also, do I need a pc to run the program, or will any tablet or mobile device work?
  19. I enjoyed the webinar and am a definite customer but a little tied up right now to really dive deep into the scanner and put to use. how long will the steady options promotion be available as I don't want to miss it? Also will the scanner work from a mobile device or is it best ran on a PC with a solid internet connection not 4G service?
  20. I emailed them just for kicks about calendars in an ira. Currently I have An Ira at TDA and 1 at IB. At IB I can do calendars in it but not at TD. Evidently tasty Works will allow them. Something to consider if the platform proves to be stable easy to use and has the functionality of tos that so many people like.
  21. Me. And tos mobile too.
