  1. Ally announced that they were going commissions free as of 10/9/2019, but they started doing this on my trades on 10/4/2019. Nice. And I do mean no flat fee or per option fee. I was being charged 2.95 + .50/option.
  2. It too often appears that long term memory ties itself to losses and short term memory aligns with gains. You cannot please everyone no matter how hard you try. Keep up the good work here.
  3. Great additions to the list of mentors available here at SO. It is good to see members being called out for their contributions to SO.
  4. Just did it today with no problems. Windows 7 is what I am using,
  5. My Ally rate is 2.95 + 40 cents a contract. This turns out to be somewhere between 44 and 47 cents an option on average. With the new deal on Tradier, I am still looking at perhaps going that route.
  6. Difficult to actually compare apples to apples with brokers other than commissions. The "fills" between brokers would need to be done at the same time in order to really know who filled at the best prices and how long did it take. Certainly higher commissions are going to eat into your return, but poorer fill rates and associated pricing could also have the same negative effect. I really like the idea of the no commissions brokers I see talked about here, but then there too often other issues that seem arise. I realize that if you have a higher trading volume you certainly can see some steep discounts at a number of these brokers. It doesn't get any cheaper than free, but can I get it filled?! This certainly can be a frustrating subject. Changing brokers is no small thing. One small item I have run into is being pushed into day trader status. Has anyone else experienced that here?
  7. Oh my, that would be highway robbery. SO needs to open a brokerage firm! I can only imagine the regulatory oversight needed to do that.
  8. 1.50/contract? Is that the real commission cost at TOS? I can certainly see why this would never work for SO. Perhaps there is a sliding scale for volume?
  9. Did not want to start an entirely new thread. Thought this one was close to the topic. Was curious about the number of open trades that we have. If I am adding them up correctly including the most recent trade TSN, it would appear that we have 5 (full) positions and 8 (1/2) positions. Have you ever have a time when you would hold more than 10 positions? BTW - great service here. Thanks
  10. What does IB define as "small amount of trading?"
  11. Ally also uses Apex for clearing.
  12. I am not sure how you get a defined answer to this question unless you are trading the exact same option on a FirstTrade account and another broker at the same time.
  13. - I do not use my broker for advanced analysis. - My fills have been comparable to IB or just about any other broker I have seen mentioned here that members are happy with. - I do not know if my broker has an Android app as I do not utilize this. - My commission is 0.4, but I do have a ticket fee of 2.95. My average commission is 0.46 to 0.48, probably not cheap enough for you to warrant a move. My broker is Ally. I was already trading options long before I came across SO. I have been pleased with trading SO trades with Ally so far. Yes I would like to get rid of the ticket fee, but with any decent volume the ticket fee becomes less of a concern. If I had not already been trading options and did not have a good commission schedule, I would probably have moved to IB as most here seem to be happy with them.
  14. I too am a new member and was wanting text as well. I received a prompt response from Kim letting me know how to work around this. Again, let me state that the response came from as high up as you can go at SO, Kim. Try this with any option trading site regardless of cost. I have been with many option trading services that you will never have access to the person or persons making the trade recommendations and paid tens of thousands for the their service. Yes, I would still like text, but I have this wonderful access as well as someone teaching me why they are trading, how to do it on my own, all at a very reasonable price! If you have never looked around at the various other "experts" in the option advice business, I encourage you to. You don't know how lucky you are to have come across SO. BTW - all those other services have text, but the information is generally not worth the text over time. Thank you SO no matter how I get the information.
  15. At Ally my fees are $3.95/trade plus $.50/option. It appears that so long as I am trading a $50k portfolio that my trades typically average between $.70/option for the half units (20 options) down to $.60/option (40 options) for the full units. These are average costs per option. I cannot comment on how Ally compares to other brokers on filling an order, but I seem to get the trades about the same pricing and fill times as IB. This of course is just a guesstimate.
