  1. The IB TWS for iPhone is really good in my opinion, but a totally different beast to the regular TWS (for PC). I suggest you get familiar with it first. IB have some PDF's on their website as I recall.
  2. Kim one on one mentoring sounds good, but what about holding a yearly training conference where members physically attend? I think there would be demand for a 4 day workshop. Maybe there are good reasons why this is not practical, but I wanted to run this by you.
  3. Thanks for that. For those that (regretfully) sold the VIX puts sometime ago would it be worth considering adding some puts are are they now too expensive?
  4. Kim, Assuming a large move to the upside or downside this Friday as a result of the Brexit decision: - What SO Trades are most set to benefit or lose? - Are you looking to add or reduce exposure considering any large market movement? - Have prices or IV already been priced in the market? Thanks, Richard.
  5. Kim it could be related only to the trade alert emails which are showing in small font and/or not word wrapped. I noticed this yesterday from my iPhone. See attached pic. Discussion items on mobile are formatted and presented perfectly.
  6. i just tried Kims suggestions on the TLT trade and it worked! I had a GTC order to sell at 0.54 for several hours which would not get filled. As soon as I "played with it" a bit it got filled at 0.54! I tried a combination of things like pausing execution, changing from GTC to Day and finally cancelling and resubmitting the order.
  7. Understood thank you. Its great you're being so selective in finding the right candidate at the right price and not just filling a particular trade.
  8. Kim would you be able to another analysis of current trades similar to your post above (which was incredibly useful)? For example, if there is a significant event which causes the VIX to spike do we have any current trade to protect against this? Thank you.
  9. Me too! Will check it out.
  10. I believe it does subject to what broker you use. I use IB and not sure that is supported although it does access IB for all the real time prices. It would be good if someone can share how we can effectively use it. Kim used to predict the projected profit for the SPX Calendar and it seemed to be right on the money (no pun intended).
  11. Its called One software and heres the link: http://www.optionnetexplorer.com/Explorer.aspx We get a discount as SO members. I have it and Im trying to learn how to use it effectively. They offer very good support if you have any questions.
  12. Im really glad you created this topic Kim as IV is still a mysterious concept to me. How do you measure IV on an individual stock? Is it usually a readily available statistic or derived from the Greeks?
  13. so as a minimum one really needs US value bundle (free with >$30 commissions) and US Options for USD 1.5 a month
  14. Hi Kim, Im still new and navigating my way through the IB platform. In terms of getting real time option quotes directly from the IB platform is this an additional service? Is it the Market Data Subs Manager? I see its only $1 a month for options. It makes sense as thus far Im unsure where or if I can get real times quotes for call or put options in my positions. Perhaps you can help? Thanks, Rich
  15. I also found it incredibly difficult to close combos, between looking at the platform docs and speaking with trader support. Im sure its like riding a bike once you get the hang of it, its relatively easy. Perhaps someone can provide the specific steps? Thanks, Rich.
  16. Kim, With regard to the Interactive Brokers trading platform do you have any suggestions on how best to get familiar with it for a newbie? There are quite a few options including TWS, TWS Latest,TWS beta and then there are the web trader editions. I have setup a paper trading account. Perhaps IB can also offer some help in this area. I know they have some tutorials. Thanks, Rich.
