Do you just set GTC orders on profit targets or do you also have a stop loss limit order as well? If it is just the former, what happens if the stock price nose dives and the losses get prohibitively large? I've found I'm on the other side regarding these cmlviz long call trades. To me, I guess I don't really trust single option positions, given their huge potential volatility, even with good cmlviz backtest results and small allocations. This in turn forces me to keep checking the prices and situation of each position all day, which has been extremely tiresome. The opposite of low maintenance. I have both EA and OSK calls right now in the red and I think I'll severely limit the amount of these cmlviz long call trades moving forward as they just don't seem to fit me. (might do the MSFT 7 day long call today though)

Same from the web interface. Tradier is down right now...

Just a heads up, anyone who opened a STT call on the pullback on Friday needs to close today as ER is tomorrow before open. I had opened a position and was planning on closing a tiny portion this morning (leaving the rest to GTC orders at profit targets), but accidentally closed my entire position... Only managed 9% gain when I could have easily gotten 30+%... So disappointing. Also closed my SHW call for -35% loss.

Bought a single SHW feb16, 450 call for 4.80 debit. Wanted to go with a higher delta call (ideally, ATM) as the backtest shows those seem to perform better, but those are expensive and more than I want to put down for a single long call position.

Imagine how I feel about completely missing this altogether yesterday.

Looks like this should have been opened yesterday, but regardless, looks interesting. I'll give it a try if I can get filled.

-91.8% loss? (O_O) This is a typo, right? From almost 40% gain to -91.8% loss?

The weekend has past and a few cost basis figures are still wrong in Tradier... Edit: So the problem, at least for me, started last Friday. All cost basis figures for existing positions were wrong. Newly opened positions on Friday showed correct cost basis figures. Looking today, everything has been flipped. Positions opened before last Friday now show the correct cost basis, but positions opened on last Friday now show wrong cost basis figures. Swing and a miss, Tradier.

Although there are no weeklies and the cmlviz backtest specifies 7 days expiry, the trade logs show that the backtest used the closest thing to 7 day expiry, which would be the closest monthly. Edit: Just opened a few Jan19, 16 calls for 0.70 debit.

Anybody planning on opening an INFY call today? (or have already done so?) (earnings are confirmed)

I think order processing may be intermittent. I was able to place a few orders in just a few moments ago.

Anyone on Tradier using their web interface? All the cost basis figures are wrong for some reason. (They were fine yesterday) Is anyone seeing the same issue? I sent a question over to support. Frankly, this is kinda ridiculous. EDIT: Apparently, they said an overnight batch process had messed up and they are trying to have it fixed within 1-2 hours from now...

I don't have any good ideas at the moment to contribute here, but just keep in mind that this topic is in the public forums, which is open to non-members.

I'm looking forward to their support for options trading. Definitely something to consider when available. We had a brief discussion about this over at the brokers topic. (see below for more info)

Yup, that one does look to be a good one. I'm planning on trying it out. I think @krisbee had mentioned this one in the FDX trade idea topic.

https://support.robinhood.com/hc/en-us/articles/202853769-How-Robinhood-Makes-Money -interest on cash -monthly subscription fees for optional additional features (unknown what optional features there will be for options at the moment)
-
They don't support futures or commodities at the moment, so I doubt they'll support options on them.
-
Interesting. Robinhood just today announced that they will be offering free option trading next year. http://blog.robinhood.com/news/2017/12/12/introducing-options-trading -no commissions and no exercise/assignment fees (probably still passing down the other fees though, clearing, orf, etc) -support for level 2 and level 3 option strategies (should work for the majority of SO trades) -free real time data They're also slowly releasing a web/desktop version of their platform so by the time options are available, the web/desktop version should be available as well. Not exactly clear what the entire user interface will look like at the moment though. (Probably can't be any more spartan than Tradier's web interface) I think Robinhood uses Apex clearing (which Tradier also uses) for stocks, which means they'll probably use them for options as well. Anyways, could be something worth looking into when it's available.

@krisbee, I'm curious, how did you get this link? I didn't see Ophir post it on his blog or his twitter. I even did a search through twitter. blog http://www.cmlviz.com/cmld3b/lite.php?app=news&referral=menu twitter search https://twitter.com/search?l=&q=nav from%3AOphirGottlieb&src=typd&lang=en

Great find, @krisbee. I opened NAV 42.5 12/29 calls yesterday for 0.8 debit. Closed right now for 1.4 credit. 75% gain. (Only had 1/8 allocation) I see the backtest has average gains of 200%+ for the 30 delta, but I'll take the conservative route and take the profits now. (Also, looking at the backtest, the most iteration in August had a 59% gain) Not much, if any, profit on the straddle though. Had 4:1 ratio, same as SBatch's setup.

I was using a later expiry and don't think I was going to see a 40% limit anyways. Exited early to be conservative. 20% to 30% was my target.
