Just curious doe's everyone start out with the web trader platform or tws platform on IB? Im in the process of opening an account with IB and browsed thru the platforms. They are a complete 180 from what I've used before. Be honest I dont like what I see so far. IB recommends new traders use web trader is that what most of you do? Any beginner tips and shortcuts you can advise me on?

Thanks Kelly and Hanson. So that is common to go 6-12 months out on ditm calls? How do you determine how deep to go on the strike price for the ditm calls?

JUst curious, does anyone have any experience with debit/credit spreads or deep in the money calls instead of buying stock? Want opinions and views on these type of strategies. I know these spreads and the ditm calls are a directional play but is it a low or high probability trade? Ive heard about buying ditm calls instead of stock was less risky than buying stock, but with stock you dont have to fight time decay....your opinions and experience with these types of trades would be appreciated.

No all in one trade ticket.....so the X spread make it possible to do the backspread, is that what you enter all your speads thru Xfanman on the ox platform?

Xfanman I just talked to OX rep, he said when entering this order as a backspead the oct 14 calls 5 were entered as a long call and the other 5 were entered into a spread with oct12 calls. I entered it as 10 oct 14 calls and 5 oct 12 calls. So dont know for sure if i did it right...

I did the backspread on the vxx friday. Just a quick question. I entered as 10 contracts on the oct 14 call and 5 contracts on the oct 12 call. OX shows it as a 5/5 spread then a seperate 5 contract option call on the oct 14 calls. Is that right the way they set it up or did OX screw up again? Thanks for your patience.

Anyone ever use Zecco for option trades? I use them for stock trades and have been happy with them, $4.95 for each trade(stock)
