  1. Does anyone know if there's a way to add a custom note on a watchlist? It would be very convenient to put a price target
  2. GTC order on MSFT filled for 40% gain after commissions. Feels good to have a win with EA and BA still dragging after this week.
  3. I was told before it's $40 per account.
  4. Sorry for the double post, but it's more of a separate topic: Days like today are going to make me avoid multiple trades that have the same hard-close date. I don't think there's been any praticularly bad sentiment about CAT or SHW, but they've both bled off large early gains when the overall market soured.
  5. There's something to be said for those GTC orders today. This is painful.Went from +30% to -5% so far.
  6. Damn, did you close during opening minutes on CAT? I'm in at 2.97 in the same, never saw above 4. Must have been quite a fluctuation. For others, CAT reports BO tomorrow. Same with SHW. Will be looking to close today.
  7. Same can be sold for ~3 now. :| May adapt my strategy a bit to scale out of these trades when they hit early in the day. Not sure. It's a weird situation where you're trying to not be upset about a 50% gain overnight. Edit: Also, I'm not really sure where to place this since it's cross-functional, but in addition to wanting to have cut my short call ratio on MSFT from 1:2 to 1:3 last friday and forgetting, I should have taken the bull sign entry today as an opportunity to close some of those short calls (as opposed to entering new long calls). This would make tracking.. basically impossible, but still. Also, hindsight is 20/20, I guess.
  8. Out for 2.19, just over 50%. Didn't see it continuing the mad dash, decided to take profit. I'm in the official MSFT straddle, so I plan on waiting for a pullback to enter MSFT long call. I'm very delta positive right now on MSFT. BA has moved up strongly today already, so I'll either enter EOD, on a pullback, or wait for a shorter play.
  9. I find this also happens when a few SO people are hunting for a fill Someone is patient, for instance, and is waiting for a good fill at 1.38, 1.39. So the mid is showing 1.46. Without the other SO person, mid would be ~1.40 (with market maker bid and ask). New person comes in, adds a penny, and BOOM insta-fill. This is why I never start at the mid.. just in case.
  10. I see 1.40 as the last. Nice fill
  11. In TXN Jan 26 $115 calls for 1.45
  12. Did you mention this trade in the UAL thread? If not, Just kidding.. I'm just sitting here relieved that I only got a partial fill on my UAL calendars. Sick surge up. Nice job on UAL - what made you pull the trigger on those long calls?
  13. If I'm going to be at the computer, I don't leave GTC profit takers on. I will watch the trade at open and let it ride for a bit if it's surging. However, I'll pretty much always close at EOD if it's above 40% (sometimes a little under!). I try to take the win. This type of trade is volatile enough, imo. I already limit the position size, so letting one of these when it's already almost 1.5x the position size ride.. it's a little too aggressive for me. Not to say it wouldn't work!
  14. I got filled for this one at 1.70 yesterday, just closed at 2.45 for 40% profit.
  15. So, I'm not paying for ONE right now (and don't plan on it in the short-term), but I'll let you know about Tradehawk. In order to keep things simple with the transfer, I'm planning to phase over cash, but I'm significantly deployed right now so I'm holding off. It could take up to a week, so I might have to wait for a slow period (or lower the % I'm transferring). I was targeting 50%, but maybe 33% is more realistic (and would leave me with a better chance to seize opportunities during the transfer period)
  16. I haven't started using Tradier, so I was referring to IB. I wasn't aware of the script. Still, given I'm leaning towards using Tradier for a bit, I think I'll stick with my manual book-keeping for now. Edit: Read quickly, didn't realize it was you who developed the script - thanks! I'm sure that would be great, but since I'm complicating things with Tradier I'll probably just stick to fully manual for now.
  17. The Portfolio Margin thing is a killer for a regular account, but I'm looking to send a portion of my IRA over to Tradier for some trades to try it out. I did some end of year accounting and my commisions paid were just.. brutal. Really lit a fire under me to at least try Tradier. I'm leaning towards trying Tradehawk, as ONE was just.. blah. It's almost easier to do manual tracking. The only problem is I have so many trades going on (even the official SO portfolio is on the full side) right now it's hard to free up enough capital to make going through the ACATS process worth it. First world problems
  18. I'm watching for an entry as well. This thing has a pretty hard downtrend though, so it's looking like it'll be EOD entry unless it finds some legs.
  19. This is a perfect reason to skip a trade like this. The thesis is that certain stocks almost always have positive momentum going into earnings. A bad news cloud like this hanging over the stock could suppress this significantly. I will skip as well. I'm more likely to enter ASML either way.
  20. STT earnings is predicted at 1/23, this is a 3-1 PE momentum trade. Looks good to me. Next friday? SEIC earnings is predicted at 1/24, this is a 7-1 PE momentum trade. Looks good to me for next Wednesday to enter. TXN earnings is predicted at 1/23, 7-1. Would be next Tuesday to enter. Thanks for the heads up, these are great finds. NOTE: earnings date I listed are just basic google estimates, I haven't gone to individual sites to confirm. I plan to do that when we get a little closer.
  21. Hope you remembered to close yesterday. I entered this trade with a smaller than normal allocation due to entering late, similar to you. Closed for ~15% loss.
  22. Was referring to the pre-earnings momentum trades as part of this thread, though other CML ideas I guess are relevant. This would probably be a good time to re-visit splitting this trade up, as it's clearly getting plenty of activity.
  23. Not expected for another couple of weeks (1/17), but a good one to keep on the radar. Now that things are getting back into swing, anyone looking at any other pre-earnings trades?
  24. ORCL sold for 1.23, 18% gain. Crossing my fingers for MU.
  25. Closed my second pass at adobe for 40% at 4.00, and it just kept popping. It's around 4.25 now. ORCL is threatening breakeven while MU will have to be saved in earnings. I'd need a pop of like 6% to save breakeven. Ugh.Ah well, win some lose some but it looks like I should have been strict with my stoploss.
