IgorK 111 Report post Posted August 3, 2017 Just new to this environment. Have some questions. 1. Is there a way to create a strategy combo for a chosen option? Something like right click->choose strategy? Or I need always build it leg by leg? 2. Once I heave a position - where can I track it's performance? I know there is portfolio window, and there is performance profile. But where can I see what I bought it for and what will happen if I sell it now, or let it expire? 3. This is probably naive question: what is best window setup for options trading? Thanks in advance.
bam1960 53 Report post Posted August 3, 2017 I like to have quotes window open but my main window for constructing trades is option trader window plus I like to have pending trades open as well
Kim 7,943 Report post Posted August 3, 2017 To create a strategy, type a symbol, click enter and select combo options in the pop up window. Did you have a chance to watch Executing Orders in Interactive Brokers presentation?
clems 27 Report post Posted August 3, 2017 Also might recommend some TWS videos. The platform is very confusing at first (at least I found it to be). https://www.interactivebrokers.com/en/index.php?f=1350&t=recorded&q=mosaic&p=

You can enter exactly what you want to buy and sell, check to make sure you have the debit or credit correct for that particular spread and go. A lot of people prefer the Combo option but I found it confusing and stopped using it after a few attempts.

IgorK 111 Report post Posted October 2, 2017 Just opened TWS today and all previously setup combos disappeared. Just puts and calls left. Did anyone have this issue before?
Spread 21 Report post Posted January 8, 2018 Hi, does anybody know to get the column "drilldown" to work ? I don't have a "+/-" to shown/hide the spread legs.
Christof+ 274 Report post Posted January 8, 2018 @Hielke a simple restart of good ol' clumsy TWS has already worked wonders for me.
Spread 21 Report post Posted January 9, 2018 @Christof+ thanks for the suggestion, but I'm having this issue on my desktop and laptop. A reboot didn't change anything

A reboot didn't change anything I have had this before too. The fix for me was to create a new tab and put your symbols/combos on that. It just seemed to work on the new tab
candreouTrade 59 Report post Posted January 10, 2018 Also make sure you have the setting that lets you save settings to server, somewhere in configuration. And make sure when you start TWS, at the login, you also have the settings from server check box checked
Spread 21 Report post Posted January 11, 2018 Thanks @candreouTrade for you reply, but to bad it didn't solve the problem. I will try a re-install of TWS.

Spread 21 Report post Posted January 11, 2018 Ah, good idea, sorry didn't thought about that, thx
Spread 21 Report post Posted January 19, 2018 I called with the IB supportdesk. They explained you only see the +/- sign in the drill-down column when you actually have the position. So it's not there when you only put the spread on a line to watch the price.
