The VIX trades summary sheet

Recommended Posts

Kim, I'm not really sure which forum this would be best in, so please move it to a different one if you think it belongs somewhere else.

First, let me say thanks both to you and everyone else here.  I am not an experienced options trader, so I spend far more time reading and learning than contributing, but I hope to change that as my level of knowledge increases.

Given the non-standard way that VIX trades need to be understood (the underlying are futures), I've put together a list of previous SteadyOptions (SO) trades to help me understand what are good exit/entrance prices, and what criteria I can use to judge present prices in light of the historical context.

I figured I'd share it just in case it might help others as well.  Three notes:

1. I only listed at calendars and vertical spreads. No butterfly and no backspread in this list.  If we end up doing them regularly, then I might add them.

2. For the trades with rolls, I indicated only that they had them and included no further information.  At that point it becomes too complex of a representation for this type of list.

3. If you see any errors, please let me know, and I will update the information.

Any recommendations for improvement are certainly welcome, including how to put tabs instead of spaces in there to make things line up.  The post keeps deleting the spaces I use.
